BRANKO ILIEVSKI

FIRST TROMBONE

Branko was born in Skopje in 1986. He started his music education at the SMBC Ilija Nikolovski Luj in Skopje, in the class of Prof. Tashko Todorov. He has successfully participated in national and international competitions during his education (Ohrid Pearls, Davorin Jenko, Ljuben Pipkov, award of the City of Skopje). He has also attended established music festival and has worked with ensembles from Europe and the USA (YMISO, CEI-YO, Backyard Jazz Orchestra, Intelochen Arts Camp, Jazz is Back).

He completed his higher education at the Faculty of Music in Skopje in the class of Prof. Tashko Todorov and Prof. Gjorgji Stefanovski, and at the University Goce Delchev in the class of Prof. Kiril Ribarski. He also studied at Lynn University in Florida in the class od Prof. Dan Satterwhite. He completed his Master’s studies in the class of Prof. Aleksandar Benchic.

He is a permanent member of the Macedonian Philharmonic since 2008, as second trombone. Branko has attended masterclasses with eminent professors of classical and jazz music, such as Thomas Riccobono, Peter Herbolzheimer, Klaus Heidenreich, Conrad Herwig, Charles Vernon, James Markey, Luis Bonilla, Branimir Slokar, Joe Alessi. He was promoted to first trombone of the Macedonian Philharmonic in 2020.

He spends his free time in various musical activities, singing in the Byzantine Chant Choir Harmosini, he is an active member of the Association of Jazz Musicians of Macedonia, a member of the renowned band Superhiks, as well as realising numerous recordings with the F.A.M.E.’S Project Orchestra. He is a frequent guest of many projects, bands and musicals in Macedonia.
