Мајкл Мечашчек

Maestro Michael Maciaszczyk was born in 1976 in Opole, Silesia (Poland). Classical music captivated him from a very young age. From the very beginning, his great passion was the sound of the violin – a passion that would lead him to become a concertmaster, soloist, and conductor. A classical music education was, therefore, a natural next step. For the past 20 years, Vienna has been his musical home. Michael Maciaszczyk’s Musical Education At the age of eight, young Maciaszczyk began learning the wonderful instrument of the violin. Later, he attended the Music High School in Poznań – a school for exceptionally talented musicians – which he completed with honors. He then pursued studies at the Academy of Music in Poznań, graduating with distinction at the age of 21. As a student, Michael Maciaszczyk studied with Professor Alfred Staar at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz. He later earned his Doctor of Art degree at the Academy of Music in Kraków. Among his other teachers were world-renowned professors such as:

  • Michel Schwalbé (Concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic)
  • Alfred Staar (Vienna Philharmonic)
  • Marina Yashvili in Moscow
  • Olga Parchomienko in Paris
Musical Career At the age of 21, Michael Maciaszczyk was appointed Concertmaster of the Vienna Chamber Orchestra. Since 2000, he has worked regularly with the Vienna Philharmonic. From September 2000 to May 2008, he served as a “Tutti Violinist” at the Vienna State Opera. The term tutti (Italian for “all”) is used in orchestras to indicate that, after a solo or divided section (divisi), all players should resume playing together. It can also refer to fully orchestrated passages in a musical work. Since September 2010, Michael Maciaszczyk has been the General Music Director (GMD) of the “Vienna Classical Orchestra,” based in Vienna. In September 2014, he took over as orchestra leader of the Polish Art Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and the affiliated Concertino Chamber Orchestra, positions he continues to hold today. Since 2015, Michael Maciaszczyk has also been active in China, serving as a guest professor at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing.
