Jelena Horvat

Serbian violinist Jelena Horvat was born into a musical family and began to play the violin when she was six years old. She has performed as a soloist, chamber, and orchestral musician in venues including the Menuhin Hall and Kings Place in England, Liszt Academy Grand Hall in Hungary, Teatro alla Scala in Italy, and Huafa & CPAA Grand Theatre in China. Jelena’s early training began at the School for Musically Gifted Children in Ćuprija, Serbia, with Dragutin Mladenović. She went on to study at the Yehudi Menuhin School with esteemed pedagogues Natasha Boyarsky and Lutsia Ibragimova. Since 2022, Jelena has been pursuing her undergraduate degree at the Royal College of Music as a Rose Williams Scholar under the guidance of Radu Blidar. Jelena received the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Emily Anderson Prize for 2022, 1st prize at the Eastbourne Symphony Orchestra Young Soloist Competition 2022, 3rd prize at the Zhuhai International Mozart Competition for Young Musicians 2023, and 1st prize at the Jenö Hubay International Violin Competition 2023. Jelena has taken part in numerous festivals and academies, notably the Britten Pears Arts, Gstaad Menuhin Festival and Carl Flesch Akademie, and has appeared on BBC Radio 3 ‘In Tune’. Jelena has had masterclasses with renowned musicians including Maxim Vengerov, Mihaela Martin, Alina Ibragimova, Alasdair Beatson, Kolja Blacher, Roman Simović and Robert Levin. As a concerto soloist, Jelena has collaborated with orchestras including the Salzburg Chamber Soloists, European Spirit of Youth Orchestra, Farnham Sinfonia and Eastbourne Symphony Orchestra. ​
