Georgios Balatsinos

Swiss conduc­tor of Greek origin, Georgios Balatsinos, has been appointed as the new chief conductor of the Orchestra of SNE Theater in Bautzen / Germany in the 2022/23 season. Since 2015 he has been artistic director and chief conduc­tor of Kammer­philhar­monie Berner Oberland (Switzer­land) and since 2010 musical director and conductor of the youth symphony orchestra Ara­besque (Switzer­land). He has conducted in presti­gious Festi­vals and halls such as in Athens Festival (Norma/Greek National Opera, 2019), S. Niarchos Concert Hall (Greek National Opera 2018-19), Athens Megaron concert Hall (Athens State Orchestra, 2017-20), Berliner Philarmonic hall (Berliner Sympho­niker 2016), Wiener Musik­verein and Konzert­haus Wien (2015) etc. Georgios has colla­borated with artists such as Carmen Gian­nat­tasio, Dimitris Tiliakos, Kyrill Trousov, Latica Honda-Rosen­berg, Christina Poulitsi, Wolfgang Boettcher, Nobuko Imai, Armin Bachmann, Fran­cesco Nicolosi and conduc­ted orchest­ras all over Europe: in his home country, Greece, the Greek National Opera, Athens State Orchestra, Thessa­loniki State Orchestra, Greek National Radio Orchestra, City of Athens Symphony Orchestra, Berlin Symphony Orchestra (Germany), National Arts Orchestra (Canada), Wuppertal Opera ( Germany), Sanremo Symphony ( Italy), Meiningen Hof­kapella (Germany), Südwest­deutsche Phil­harmonie Konstanz (Germany), Orchestre Phil­har­monique de Nice (France), Moscow Phil­har­monic (Russia) Novosi­birsk Philar­monic (Rusia) to name a few, as well as in Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria or Lithuania. He is a Winner of several inter­national conducting Compe­titions in Bucarest(2018), Belgrad (2019), Brescia (2018) and Berlin (2016). As an active student, Georgios Balat­sinos took part in numerous inter­national master­classes with D. Zinman, P. Eötvös, G. Rozhdest­vensky, G. Gelmetti, M.Jurowski, N. Järvi and Johannes Schlaefli. He is also a finalist of the 15th conductor workshop “Inter­aktion” of the Critical Orchestra in Berlin with leading musicians from Berlin Philhar­monic, Staats­kapelle Berlin and Sächsische Staats­kapelle Dresden, amongst others.
