Sara Janeva

Sara Janeva (01.01.2000) is a Macedonian lyric mezzo-soprano active in opera and concert repertoire. She completed her Bachelor’s studies at the Faculty of Music in Skopje in 2022, in the class of Prof. Vesna Ginovska-Ilkova. Following her graduation in Skopje, she participated in Maestro George Pehlivanian’s Summer Opera Academy in Bled, Slovenia. In 2024, she joined the Swiss Opera Studio and began performing her first solo roles at Theater Biel Solothurn in Switzerland. In 2025, she made her debut in two of W. A. Mozart’s final operas, as Annio in La clemenza di Tito and as the Second Lady in Die Zauberflöte. She concluded her final season at the Opera Studio with the role of Lisetta in Giovanni Paisiello’s La Frascatana. Alongside her operatic performances, she also appeared in concert performances of Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater and Antonín Dvořák’s Stabat Mater. In February and July of this year, she gave two solo concerts — at the University of the Arts in Bern and at the Church of St. Sophia in Ohrid — with programmes dedicated to Macedonian music and Macedonian composers. In August of this year, she appeared as a soloist in La Notte Italiana, part of the Allegro Vivo Festival in Horn, Austria, performing works by Claudio Monteverdi, Gioachino Rossini and Vincenzo Bellini. Her artistic development has been greatly influenced by her work with distinguished opera artists, including Milka Eftimova, Ana Durlovski, Malin Hartelius, her mentor at the Swiss Opera Studio, and the renowned mezzo-soprano Vesselina Kasarova.
