VLADIMIR KRSTEV
LEADER OF SECOND VIOLINS
Vladimir was born in Skopje in a creative family of musicians. He started his musical journey at a very early age. While still in high school, he performed with numerous Macedonian ensembles, traveling the world and enriching his versatile musical spectre with different musical styles and genres.
He graduated and completed his Master’s degree at the Faculty of Music in Skopje in the class of Prof. Zoran Dimitrovski. Vladimir was also a laureate of the national violin competition in 1995 and the national chamber music competition in 1996. He is the recipient of many awards and recognitions, of which most important is the YAMAHA award in 1998 for the best instrumentalist of his generation. As a student he participated in various music camps – Symphony Orchestra of Altenburg, Germany, Chamber Orchestra of Jeunesses Musicales Macedonia.
Vladimir became a member of the Macedonian Philharmonic in 2002. He has performed numerous concerts around the world: China, Kazakhstan, Spain, Bulgaria, Turkey, Sweden, Poland, France, Austria, Portugal, Dubai… and has collaborated with eminent soloists and conductors. Noticeable are his performance at the Skopje Summer Festival, Shtip Summer Festival and Ohrid Summer Festival, Heraclea Nights, Days of Macedonian Music, as well as solo and chamber performances with the Macedonian Philharmonic.
He is a member of the chamber ensemble Music Progressive Quartet (the ensemble is the winner of the Virtuosi award in 2013) and has performed in USA, Canada, Russia, Austria, Italy, Luxembourg, Bulgaria. He is also a member of the string quartet Brevis, the ensemble BAHUS, The Magical Orchestra of Dzijan Emina, the film music orchestra F.A.M.E.’s.
As an instrumentalist, he has also participated in the realisation of the music for the films: The Great Water, Bal-kan-kan, How I killed a saint, Mothers, Third Halftime, To the Hilt, Willow (music by Kiril Dzjakovski, with whom he has collaborated for many years, performing throughout the world). His versatile portfolio is successfully complemented by his collaborations with eminent Macedonian musicians such as Karolina Gocheva, Simon Trpcheski, Nikola Micevski, Duke Bojadziev, Toni Kitanovski, Kalipoi, Vlatko Stefanovski and many others.
