Suat Arikan
After graduating from high school, Suat Arıkan entered the Ankara State Conservatory and graduated in 1981. He continued his singing, style and repertoire work with Dan Iordacescu, Daniel Ferro, Leyla Gencer, Licinio Montefusco and Elisabetta di Stefano. Arıkan has a rich repertoire ranging from the 17th century to contemporary music; he has performed many concerts at home and abroad.
Some of them; Il Trovatore (Ferrando), Macbeth (Banco), Nabucco (Zaccaria) , Othello (Iago), Tosca (Scarpia), Don Giovanni (Don Giovanni , Leporello), Le nozze di Figaro (Figaro), Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Don Basilio), Maometto II (Maometto), Il Turco in Italia (Selim), La Bohème ( Colline ), Salome (Johannaan), Carmen ( Escamillo), Les contes d'Hoffmann (Dr. Miracle), Aida ( Ramfis), Man of La Mancha (Don Quixote), Don Quichotte (Don Quichotte)
In 1983, he won the second prize in the national singing competition and received the special award his success in interpreting Turkish works.
In 1984, ‘Toti dal Monte, Treviso International Competition , the ‘La Rovigo Opera Special Award’
In 1987, Toti dal Monte, Treviso International Competition, won first place with his ‘Sparafucile’ role in ‘Rigoletto’
In 2006, He has been honored as ‘Knight’ by the Italian President, for his contributions to art
The Artist has also served as a jury member at international singing competitions in cities Milano, Como, Tirana, Capri, Salice, Spoleto, Bellano, Cinisello. And has been working as an artistic director and administrator in Istanbul State Opera and Ballet since the year 2003.
Arıkan continues to work as an artistic director, soloist on stages and also He has been giving lectures in Istanbul University, Mimar Sinan University, Haliç University State Conservatory and Bahçeşehir University. Along with music, he is also interested in painting; and he holds exhibitions and attends art fairs as a painter at home and abroad.
