Baroque ensemble “Teatro Alla Moda”
Lilia Slavny – baroque violin Joshua Cheatham – viola da gamba Cvetanka Sozovska - harpsichord Taking its name from the treatise by Benedetto Marcello (written in 1720), “Teatro alla moda” devotes itself to the historically-informed performance of baroque music. The members of this ensemble come from four different cultural environments, but found their unified musical language in The Netherlands, during their studies at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. Combining virtuosity and thorough study of the authentic performance practice of the baroque period, the musicians explore and present repertoire for different chamber music combinations on historical copies of violin, recorder, oboe, bassoon, viola da gamba and harpsichord, playing pieces from the very early baroque up to the birth of the classical musical style. “Teatro alla moda” performs regularly in Holland, and already had its international debut in different music festivals in Europe, such as Reikjavik (Iceland), Saintes (France), Pacos de Ferreira (Portugal) and Skopje and Ohrid (Macedonia). For this concert “Teatro alla moda” presents itself in a trio formation with baroque violin, viola da gamba and harpsichord, with program specific for these instruments in the High Baroque period.
