Aleksandar Ivanov
The youngest winner of the Virtuosi Award Aleksandar Ivanov melds expressive musicality and technical expertise with a diverse repertoire guided by artistic curiosity. His true passion lies within the expressive possibilities of the late romantic composers. He is a student at The Juilliard School under tutelage of Laurie Smukler. Aleksandar Ivanov is a recipient of the Teplitsky Memorial Scholarship, the M.& E. Cohen Scholarship, and the Harriet and David Colvin Scholarship. He has had solo performances with the Macedonian Philharmonic, the Danube Symphony Orchestra, the Classic FM radio orchestra. Alex nurtures his passion for music with eminent conductors such as: Gustavo Dudamel, Marin Alsop, Borjan Canev, Manfred Honeck, Vesko Panteleev – Eshkenazi, Joshua Gersen. Aleksandar is constantly present on the music scene in Macedonia, as well as abroad. During the summer of 2022 in Aspen he was featured in the String Showcase Concert series organized by the famous violin pedagogue Robert Lipsett. Alex can be seen on the stages of the Juilliard School where he is actively performing as a chamber musician, as well as orchestral performances in Alice Tully Hall. In 2022, Alex became a Gluck Fellow at the Juilliard School. With the ensemble Artivisam, Alex does extensive community outreach programs and performances in NYC. He has also recorded for WRTI Radio (live 90.1 FM), Philadelphia, PA, USA. In 2018, at the opening of the festival Days of Macedonian Music Alex performed a newly commissioned violin concerto by his brother Filip Ivanov. Following concerts in the spring include multiple chamber music performances in NYC as well as a part of the Juilliard Student String Quartet at the Days of Macedonian music. He plays on a violin made by Gaetano Antoaniazzi on a generous loan from the Juilliard School.
